The GP R15 is a modern semi-automatic, AR-15 type rifle. It is chambered in .223 Wylde and will handle both .223 Remington and 5.56×45 NATO. Its 1:8 twist rate is able to stabilize a wide range of projectile weights. The free-float barrel is nitrided for exceptional accuracy, durability, and corrosion resistance. The rifle is offered in five different barrel length options of 11”, 14.5”, 16.5”, (with 18” and 20” being available on demand). The rifles come with M4 feed ramps for more reliable feeding. The muzzle of the rifles feature a standard 1/2×28 thread pitch and the rifles come equipped with a muzzle brake.
The bolt is made out of 9310 steel while the bolt carrier is 8620 steel. The bolt carrier has a properly staked gas key to stop it from coming loose.
The rifles are currently available in both a Direct Impingement – GP R15 as well as a short-stroke piston version – GP R15 M.
On the GP R15 the 11” barrel length uses a carbine length gas system while the 14.5” and 16.5” barrels are both equipped with mid-length, and the 18” and 20” feature rifle length gas systems. This has the benefit of not only reducing the felt recoil, muzzle rise and sight disruption during firing, but the optimized gas pressure also results in less internal parts wear – making for a longer lasting rifle.
The GP R15 M uses a short-stroke gas piston with a three-position, adjustable gas block. It allows the user to select settings for normal, adverse, and suppressed operation.
The handguard of the GP R15 features a full length Picatinny rail at the 12 o’clock and M-LOK slots at the 3, 6, and 9 o’clock position, making for an extremely versatile mounting solution while simultaneously reducing weight.
In contrast, the handguard of the piston-driven GP R15 M is easily removable thanks to a QD lever. This allows quick access to the piston mechanism for easy field strip and cleaning. Additionally, it has Picatinny rails at both the 12 and 6 o’clock positions.
The safety selector and charging handle are ambidextrous.
